Correspondence, speeches, legal briefs, and printed material of this lawyer active in conservation and environmental issues in Minnesota and elsewhere. Many concern opposition to plans by the St. Clair Mining Company to explore for minerals in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Other files concern water management and pollution, land utilization, and natural resources conservation and environmental law in general. Haik corresponded with a number of environmental organizations, such as the Izaak Walton League, Sierra Club, and Arctic Environmental Council (regarding the Alaska oil pipeline).
